The Cutest Jayhawk
No surprise that we have been waiting to get Joanna in some Jayhawk gear to start what we hope is a burning passion for the Kansas Jayhawks! On December 18th we had that opportunity and took Joanna to her first Jayhawk game with Grandma and Grandpa Messamore! We also recently had a baby shower for some friends who will be welcoming a new little Jayhawk as well and watched KU beat Texas so she had another opportunity to show off some cuteness! Here are some pics!

Two Months Old (and CHRISTMAS!)
Joanna turned two months old on Christmas Eve!
We had a great trip to St. Louis and Wichita to be with family. It was a bit odd to go back to STL with out mom and dad living there any more but it was still great! Wichita was filled with cards, cookies and that is also where we did her photo shoot!
Month 2 Memories
- Starting to Coo and "talk" to us
- Singing! Joanna really started to respond to and love music, whether singing or listening and dancing with dad she would always interact and calm down! She would even sing along!
- Meeting her toys--she really loves her firefly, hungry caterpillar, the playmat with mirror above (she loved talking to the baby in the mirror!) and more!
- Mom and Dad's first date night and J's first babysitters (Grammy and Grandpa Hansen!)
- BIG smiles when she would wake up and we would get her from her crib
- Sleeping in her crib ALL night--she started in the crib right after Thanksgiving and did awesome--she sleeps most nights at least 5-6 hours sometimes 7 or 8
- First Snow
- Meeting her great grandparents Hansen and Potts this month! What special visits!
- First laugh right at her 2 month birthday over Christmas when Nana was making fart noises! SO adorable!
- A wonderful break for Will over the holidays--we enjoyed lazy days at home just snuggling, playing, and being together!
- Traveling to St. Louis and Wichita over the holidays to meet even more family and friends!
- Her first Christmas. We loved celebrating with her and it was so fun to imagine future Christmases with this little girl running around like crazy and loving every minute!

Little comparison from 1 month to 2...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

One Month
One month...wow, it FLEW by. There were many highs (and some lows as well) but overall, this month was filled with learning about and loving our little Joanna. Some of the biggest joys were as we really started to get to know her and be able to help her by feeding her, changing her or putting her to sleep--what a feeling to be able to satisfy the needs of someone else. Here are some highlights and of course pictures! Mom is also learning Photoshop...so the official shot is below...the others are just adorable.
One amazing month...

Month 1 Memories
- Our hospital stay in the new penthouse room at St. Luke's on the Plaza--so fancy, but we were glad to get home!
- Tears...of worry, love, joy, fear, mostly love.
- Her first smiles while sleeping, she even laughed in her sleep for an added bonus!
- Visits from family and friends, wonderful dinners, sweet gifts (we thought we had everything we could ever need and received more after she arrived! Who knew!)
- Staying in bed pretty much all day once I was on my own during maternity leave...most days we didn't go downstairs except to get some food since we could sleep (she was right next to me in the pack n' play), nurse, watch tv etc. all right in our bed!
- November was pretty mild so we enjoyed some nice walks around the neighborhood in our stroller--even into December! (as I type this in January--we just walked yesterday when it was nearly 60 degrees!)
- Joanna loved to look at the pictures and art on the wall above her changing pad...it is one of her favorite spots!
- Tummy time using the handheld mirror--so cool to watch her learn with this easy to do activity!
- Any time the 3 of us could be together--laying in bed holding J was how we spent most of our time when Will got home from work!
- Sitting in the glider and nursing or just holding J, listening to worship music (more tears!)!
- Learning the magic baby hold--there were some times, mostly at night when J was really fussy and Will would use the magic baby hold often, we also loved the Moby wrap for times like these! It helped calm everyone down and relax to baby wear with it!
- Our first family trip to visit the new grandparents over Thanksgiving in Bartlesville and Wichita! Joanna met so many friends and family that week, then treated us to her first "real" smiles on her 1 month birthday which was also Mom's 28th birthday! Couldn't have asked for a better gift!

One Week Old
We were so blessed to have Auntie Charlie and Uncle Robby take the day off to come visit Joanna and for Charlie to take incredible pictures! I also tried my hand at some fancy photography with my new camera and came away with a couple of good shots, but I'll link up to Char's blog for the really good ones! These pictures became amazing Christmas presents and will hang in our house for years to come!
