One Month

One month...wow, it FLEW by. There were many highs (and some lows as well) but overall, this month was filled with learning about and loving our little Joanna. Some of the biggest joys were as we really started to get to know her and be able to help her by feeding her, changing her or putting her to sleep--what a feeling to be able to satisfy the needs of someone else. Here are some highlights and of course pictures! Mom is also learning Photoshop...so the official shot is below...the others are just adorable.

Month 1 Memories
  • Our hospital stay in the new penthouse room at St. Luke's on the Plaza--so fancy, but we were glad to get home!
  • Tears...of worry, love, joy, fear, mostly love.
  • Her first smiles while sleeping, she even laughed in her sleep for an added bonus!
  • Visits from family and friends, wonderful dinners, sweet gifts (we thought we had everything we could ever need and received more after she arrived! Who knew!)
  • Staying in bed pretty much all day once I was on my own during maternity leave...most days we didn't go downstairs except to get some food since we could sleep (she was right next to me in the pack n' play), nurse, watch tv etc. all right in our bed!
  • November was pretty mild so we enjoyed some nice walks around the neighborhood in our stroller--even into December! (as I type this in January--we just walked yesterday when it was nearly 60 degrees!)
  • Joanna loved to look at the pictures and art on the wall above her changing pad...it is one of her favorite spots!
  • Tummy time using the handheld mirror--so cool to watch her learn with this easy to do activity!
  • Any time the 3 of us could be together--laying in bed holding J was how we spent most of our time when Will got home from work!
  • Sitting in the glider and nursing or just holding J, listening to worship music (more tears!)!
  • Learning the magic baby hold--there were some times, mostly at night when J was really fussy and Will would use the magic baby hold often, we also loved the Moby wrap for times like these! It helped calm everyone down and relax to baby wear with it!
  • Our first family trip to visit the new grandparents over Thanksgiving in Bartlesville and Wichita! Joanna met so many friends and family that week, then treated us to her first "real" smiles on her 1 month birthday which was also Mom's 28th birthday! Couldn't have asked for a better gift!

One amazing month...
Love,
The Messamores
