Today, we said yes to this..."Recognizing that children are a gift from the Lord, are you willing to trust God’s gracious and sovereign plan for his or her life even when it differs from your own agenda? Do you see yourself as God’s primary steward of this child? Will you treasure Jesus and live in such a way that celebrates the truth of the Gospel? Will you teach them God’s Word and commit to disciplining your child according to that Word—consistently, with gentleness and love? Will you put his or her interests before your own, sacrificing and caring for them? Finally, do you commit to raising your child in a community of faith that believes and proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ?"
Wow, that is a huge responsibility, but we are so excited to be on this journey with our girl that as scary as it is to pledge to her and to the Lord to do these things, we are forever willing to try with God's help. We also know that our hope is not in how well we parent her, our hope is in Jesus and if we are putting it trust in him for everything from parenting to marriage to the littlest parts of our lives, we will be serving Him and Joanna well.
What a blessing she is. We give endless thanks and praise to Jesus for her.
Love,
The Messamores
